You are not your audience!

It's a lesson I learned early and remind myself often.

This week I have been reminded twice about it.

There is no shortage of opinions on the internet (including mine).

Recently, I saw some people bashing others for being in Forbes, Inc, Business Insider, etc.

They are saying it doesn't mean anything, b/c they know some people probably paid for the published content.

They are too busy looking through their lenses and not their potential clients.

Yes, you can pay to be published in reputable locations.

No big deal, it's part of the game.

What matters is if it builds authority with your customers. On the flip side it might not build authority.

It's why we need to know your customers.

Another ‘GURU' is claiming you shouldn't say… I don't mean to impress you, but to impress upon you.If you use this line, he and his forum buddies will laugh at you.

When you should care less if these people approve.

Only thing that matters is does the customer paying you like it.

Frankly, I have witnessed a $100M Entrepreneur and a Billionaire use both examples above.

They know their audience.

I'm not sure about you, but I choose to listen to successful people who are playing the game in a league that I am working to join.
