When my success leads to depression

Have you ever battled depression?

Yes? Then you’re in good company.

Because a whopping 30% of other entrepreneurs do too…

What’s crazy to me, though – is that only 7% of the average population suffers from depression.

Ok, enough with the statistics…but that strikes me…

Because as entrepreneurs, we create businesses for more freedom, more joy, and more control.

Dreaming of lives that are much better than our employed counterparts…

However, many of us quickly realize that our success can be our greatest pitfall.

 Here’s what I mean…

We’re high achievers who work towards a lot of goals, right?

But I found that as I reached my goals and smashed through obstacles, I’d feel a brief  surge of excitement followed by a sinking feeling of…that’s it?

Depression replaced my excitement…

Lack of motivation replaced my drive…

Emptiness replaced my vision…

Following my greatest wins, I’d have days and seasons of depression where I didn't want to do a single thing.

Can you relate?

I’m pleased to report, though – that I’ve found the solution to these wild emotional swings…

Gratitude.

You see, the one way I’d break free of those depressive chains was to take a few moments to be grateful.

Grateful for the things I got to do…

Grateful for the chance to work on my own business…

Grateful for what I do have…

Gratitude is the fastest “reset” when life gets you down.

And for me, it’s been a very helpful tool for dealing with the roller coaster of emotions that come with running a business.

Now I need to acknowledge one more thing before you go…

You may feel depressed because nothing has been successful yet…

Maybe you’re thinking you’d love the chance to experience the other side of a realized dream or goal.

Gratitude is still a powerful tool for staying in the game and keeping your mind right at that point too…
