They said to put away our guns…
When the so-called “Chinese Spy Balloon” flew over NC, the sheriffs Begged locals to “Refrain From Taking ‘Pot Shots' at Chinese Spy Balloon”…
Damn, I love America.
But the whole ordeal got me thinking…
From coast to coast, Americans were obsessed with this balloon.
Furious they were spying on us, fighting about how to handle it and nervous about what would happen next.
But here’s the thing, China is always spying on us.
They collect data on private citizens and use satellites to monitor our activities…
They’ve got better technology than a glorified weather balloon and I bet they didn’t gather any information they didn't already have…
So why a balloon?
Why something so obvious?
I think Fox news stated it well…
“The Chinese had to know that a large balloon — visible to civilians with the naked eye — would be detected. That raises the possibility that one of the Chinese goals was to see how the U.S. would react to this kind of provocation.”
You see, China likely wanted us all to see it.
They expected us to go to war with each other and whip up a frenzy…
Now, espionage and World War 3 aside – let's think about how this applies to your marketing.
When’s the last time you did something bold, audacious or controversial?
Cuz here’s the thing, if you want your market to notice you, you’ve gotta do something noticeable.
I’m not saying to float a balloon across military bases…(unlike the Chinese, that’s probably going to land you in prison)…
But don’t be scared to stir the pot once in while.
Yeah, you’ll probably make some people mad- but you’re also going to attract a lot more of the people you want to serve.
